The online definition is – “A ‘meme’ is a virally-transmitted cultural symbol or social idea.”
“The majority of modern memes are captioned photos that are intended to be funny, often as a way to publicly ridicule human behavior. …”
So it’s a picture with a piece of text on.
Thing is they have been used as a way to take the piss out of things and people so often we now are looking out for them.
We have in a way been trained by society to react and respond to them.
How can we use this is our business?
If the term “meme” brings up resistance and makes you think of childish nonsense, I get that, but it does have a place in the way we consume information – particularly on social media.
We use memes to deliver small bite size pieces of information that helps our audience understand us and our business better.
We use the picture behind the text as a pattern interrupt or for something that compliments and adds to our text.
Thats it, to put this into practice – do you have a post that has got good traction in the past?
Break it down into smaller pieces and make memes out of it and remember its main purpose is to help our audience understand us and our business better.
